History joining the band:
The majority of Daisy (Me, Matti and Jukka) and a few friends begun playing together in 1994 when we were in high school. We didn't have a name but we played some great tunes ( Anttilan täti, Ameeba ) and had great fun. The other guys interest waned when I thought it would be a good idea to try something a bit more professional... like Jimi Hendrix. Matti also either decided he couldn't be bothered to play bass or he realised his hands were too small for the instrument. Anyway he dyed his hair black and Jimi Hendrix was far from being gothic.

So, me and Jukka decided to tread the Hendrix path and started looking for a bass guitarist. And alas, Jesse, our neighbour joined the band. He had never touched a bass but his dad had one, and even better, he had a massive Kustom amplifier from the 70's. Great, we had a band! So we started rehearsing. Playing was fun and there was a point where we could stumble through a dozen or so Jimi tunes. At one point it became boring to play without a singer though so we decided to recruit somebody to handle the vocals.

A good buddy, Timi, from high scool was forced, almost against his will, to sing for us. I don't think he ever really enjoyed the singing but we had a lot of fun and recorded a demo as Dandy (not Daisy) with classic tracks such as Mr.Slick and Liver Love Chirrosis (zesus!!). The style is perhaps best described as guitar pop with extended guitar solos, all sung and played horribly out of tune and out of rhythm. We were really disappointed the first time we heard that demo at home. Man we sucked… but that sucking continued easily for another 6 years!

At some point during my second year in high school our music took a dive into the Smashing Pumpkins world, a style that still rears its bald head from time to time in lyrics, melodies and especially sonically. I can now see why I got so into the Smashing Pumpkins. Sp and Jimi aren't that far away from each other: guitar solos, great guitar tones and weird lyrics. So briefly, we became the Dumb Badgers (what?!) and played a lot of SP covers and some of our own tunes that sounded a lot like a certain B.C.'s tunes did, minus the catchy choruses and hooks. Ok, we had a gig booked at great venue in Turku called Citysound. The place doesn't exist anymore but it was one of the first places I ever got into underage. After displaying my fake ID at the door I got to see loads of bands there nearly every weekend and got served beer too. Paradise! This gig was going to be our first ever gig at a "real" venue. We had only played a couple of times at concerts in our high school before this. I was panicking and looking for another guitarist to help out with the wall of sound we were trying to create in order to mimic SP. Me and Jesse found a suitable candidate in a BBS (this was pre-www)...

Our attention was caught by his topic which was something along the lines of "Woodstock 2010: Metallica has just finished warming up for you. It's your turn. It's just you, your guitar, the amplifier and 100.000 people. Do you ever have similar dreams?"... He also had a Les Paul. Anyway, we had to cancel the gig about one week earlier because we hadn't practised with Timi for ages. Our practise always collided with his roleplaying sessions and they were something you wouldn't want to miss, especially if your Gamemaster was the renowned Matti Ikonen. At this stage it was evident that Timi wouldn't want to continue so we had to think of something else. Time to call that guitarist again and see what he has in mind. What was his name anyway? Heikki or Vesa?
